Camp changed my life when I returned two years ago after a long absence. To this day, I am enjoying the blessings that came to into my life when I went back to camp. Being involved the last two years was the best life decision I have made. Camp is its own little piece of Heaven on Earth. A great place to come home to!

Not only did camp have a direct impact on our futures . We keep in contact with many of our mentors and friends we have met through the years. Some are great connections, advisors and wonderful friends in many different professional industries. Some people we have met offer their homes In different countries if ever visited or offer to be references. The overall camp experiences had offered us so much more than just the days spent together but are relationships that have carried over into years after and many years to come! To to add on to the impact that we gave to children, the impact is reciprocal!

I worked at camp elk for three years. I grew up going to Y camp at camp Oakes and lived even minute of it. As soon as I was of age I started working at camp elk first as a counselor them moved to program staff! Working there was one of the most amazing times of my life getting to talk and interact with kids of all ages some that didn't want to be there and lots that did but by the end of their weeks they were all the same none of them wanted to go home I've meet so many amazing people through camp life and still to this day keep in touch!

My brother Mark and I started at campers in 98' and originally at Camp Coulter Pines the first two years then later found ELK . Mark was 10 and I was 7 returned every summer till 2012. Sometimes we would attend 2-4 weeks a summer. Once of age, became CIT's then Counselors which eventually lead into staff. Camp offered us lessons that we wouldn't have learned elsewhere. Educated us on nature , understanding the power of perspective, alternative ways to approach problem solving, met some people from all over the world, ignited a creative spark in many and most importantly helped us touch the lives of thousands of children over the years in the same way it touched us. Giving back to the camp, our mentors and the kids was great. I speak for my brother and I when I say we wouldn't be the people we are today had we not attended these YMCA camps!
